Overview

Senior Data Engineer

Salary: Up to £70,000 p/a dependent on experience

Plus access to annual bonus

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm

This is an exciting time to join the UK’s largest private healthcare telemedicine company based in Hastings, East Sussex, who are expanding their Data Engineering team due to organic growth.

Joining a dynamic team focusing on the Data Engineering function within Medica you will be responsible for managing our data across the organisation in a way that allows our colleagues to analyse it and make informed decisions on company strategy, resource, processes, pricing, and other objectives.

Reporting to the Data Engineering Team Leader you will work to build processes that collect, manage, and convert raw data into usable information for colleagues to interpret; to make data accessible so that it can be used to evaluate and optimise organisational performance via reports and other data sources.

You will be creating relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the group of Medica companies to enable a collaborative working environment that ensures success and continuous improvement.

You will work closely with other technical colleagues and users in other departments to understand requirements and needs.

Responsibilities
  • Manage, maintain and evolve the company’s data platform and data sinks to support future growth.
  • Design, create, manage, and maintain required ETL/ELT processes.
  • Provide input throughout key projects
  • Provide input into a data strategy and road map to enable future growth as well as addressing legacy systems.
  • Maintain knowledge of technology trends and offerings with a view to evaluating and implementing any required.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share relevant knowledge and experience
  • Work with key stakeholders in and out of projects providing timely work updates when required.

Essential Skills
  • The successful candidate will be a problem-solver, with excellent critical thinking skills, able to identify and solve potential problems, and approach database design from a structured, standards-based point of view.
  • Demonstrable experience in design and implementation of Data Architecture patterns and data modelling.
  • Demonstrable in-depth knowledge and experience of Microsoft Azure data tools, particularly Microsoft Fabric, with an emphasis on OneLake and Data Factory.
  • Strong Python / PySpark skills
  • ELT/ETL experience (Data Transformation)
  • Strong relational database experience, including solution design, structure, maintenance and best practices
  • Having a positive and solution driven approach
  • Project management or team leadership experience.
  • Good experience of stakeholder management
