Job summary

Maxwell Bond is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to take ownership of the data platform, shaping how data supports growth. You will build and evolve ETL/ELT pipelines, models and warehouse architecture while improving data quality and reliability across the business.

You will collaborate with Software Engineering, Product, Data Analysts, Marketing and senior stakeholders to set the technical direction and run production data pipelines on cloud platforms such as Snowflake and AWS.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial Data Engineering experience.
• Experience running production data pipelines with SQL and Python.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, AWS) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain reliable ETL/ELT pipelines, data models and warehouse architecture.
• Improve data quality, monitoring, testing, performance and reliability across the platform.
• Work with Data Analysts and wider teams to build trusted datasets around customers, orders, marketing and commercial performance.
• Take ownership of the technical roadmap, identifying technical debt and opportunities to improve the platform.
• Provide technical guidance across the growing Data capability and act as the main technical point of contact for Data Engineering.

Job description

Picture joining a growing e-commerce business where you’ll take technical ownership of the data platform and help shape how data supports the next stage of growth.

The business has data coming from its website, customers, orders, marketing, subscriptions and wider operations. You’ll take ownership of how this data moves through the business, improve the existing platform and build the foundations needed as the company continues to scale.

You’ll sit within Engineering and work closely with Software Engineering, Product, Data Analysts, Marketing and senior stakeholders across the business.

The Role

You’ll own and evolve the data platform, with the autonomy to improve the architecture, processes and tooling as the business grows.

• Build and maintain reliable ETL/ELT pipelines, data models and warehouse architecture
• Improve data quality, monitoring, testing, performance and reliability across the platform
• Work with Data Analysts and wider teams to build trusted datasets around customers, orders, marketing and commercial performance
• Take ownership of the technical roadmap, identifying technical debt and opportunities to improve the platform
• Provide technical guidance across the growing Data capability and act as the main technical point of contact for Data Engineering

You’ll suit this role if you have strong commercial Data Engineering experience, strong SQL and Python skills and experience running production data pipelines.

Experience with modern cloud data platforms and tooling such as Snowflake, AWS, dlt or Fivetran would be useful. Experience working with e-commerce, customer, subscription or marketing data would also be valuable.
