Job summary

G.Digital partners with a HealthTech business to hire a Lead Data Platform Engineer in Manchester. You will build and shape a brand-new Data Engineering function from the ground up, initially hands-on delivering a critical project for the first 3–6 months.

From there, you’ll define the data capability—tooling, architecture, strategy and team building—with a strong opportunity to influence engineering direction as the business scales. Hybrid working available.

Qualifications

• Hands-on data engineering experience with Python, Spark and SQL.
• Experience with PySpark and data pipelines.
• Strong collaboration and mentoring of data teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of the new Data Engineering function.
• Mentor and grow the data engineering team while hands-on coding.

Senior Data Platform Engineer - £75k | Lead a Data Engineering function | HealthTech | Python, Spark, Data Bricks, AWS, Azure | Manchester / hybrid working

G.Digital have exclusively partnered with an exciting HealthTech business looking to hire a Lead Data Engineer to build and shape a brand-new Data Engineering function from the ground up.

This isn’t your standard leadership role and definitely won’t suit everyone…

Initially, you’ll be hands-on delivering a critical Data Engineering project expected to run for the first 3–6 months

From there, you’ll have the autonomy to define what the Data Engineering capability looks like moving forward — tooling, architecture, strategy and team build included

Huge opportunity to genuinely influence engineering direction within a scaling business

What they’re looking for

Strong hands-on Data Engineering experience across Python, Spark, SQL and PySpark

Experience working with hyperscaler cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP

Exposure to modern tooling including Databricks, Microsoft Fabric and PowerBI

Previous experience building, leading or mentoring Data Engineering teams
