Job summary

Jowicom in London is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Platform team. You will design and maintain high-volume Python data pipelines and analyze large datasets in SQL, helping translate business needs into scalable solutions.

You will work in an agile environment with cross-functional partners, mentor colleagues, and drive performance improvements while embracing a flexible schedule that includes some remote days.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in computer science or related field.
  • Strong Python and SQL programming skills.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform or other clouds and building batch (Airflow) and streaming (Dataflow) pipelines.
  • Familiarity with BigQuery, Apache Druid, Elasticsearch.
  • Knowledge of Terraform, DBT and Looker is a plus; focus on performance optimisation and cost reduction.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test and maintain high-volume Python data pipelines.
  • Analyse complex datasets in SQL.
  • Collaborate with Product and Commercial teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

They are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join their team in London. They are creating a fundamentally new approach to digital marketing, combining big data with large-scale machine learning. Their data sets are on a truly massive scale - they collect data on over a billion users per month and analyse the content of hundreds of millions of documents a day.

As a member of our Data Platform team your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, build, test and maintain high-volume Python data pipelines.
  • Analyse complex datasets in SQL.
  • Communicate effectively with Product Managers and Commercial teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable solutions.
  • Work independently in an agile environment.
  • Share your knowledge across the business and mentor colleagues in areas of deep technical expertise.
