Job summary

Networking People Limited is seeking an experienced data centre Lead to manage day-to-day operations in a pre-production environment, ensuring high availability of compute, storage and network infrastructure.

You will oversee VMware virtualisation platforms, lab environments, and infrastructure projects, while mentoring engineers and coordinating with vendors. Strong Windows/Linux, scripting, and ITIL awareness are required, with cloud exposure desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of a data centre environment in a pre-production setting.
• Ensure high availability and infrastructure reliability across compute, storage, network, and virtual layers.
• Manage daily operations of enterprise data centre facilities.
• Oversee uptime and performance of compute, storage, network, and virtual infrastructure.
• Lead infrastructure projects including upgrades, migrations and capacity planning.
• Administer VMware virtualisation platforms (installation, configuration, troubleshooting).
• Maintain lab environments for testing changes, firmware updates, DR procedures, and PoC deployments.
• Develop and maintain operational procedures, standards and documentation.
• Monitor performance and implement proactive improvements.
• Manage relationships with hardware, software and service vendors.
• Oversee budgets, contracts, asset lifecycle and capacity planning.
• Mentor and develop technical engineers and operations staff.
