Elsevier’s STMJ Data & Analytics team is seeking a Senior Data Analyst in London or Oxford. You will lead complex analytics initiatives, partner with senior stakeholders, and drive data-driven decisions across the global research communications business.

You’ll mentor junior analysts, manage multiple projects, and stay at the forefront of analytics techniques, including AI-assisted approaches, to deliver actionable insights and tangible business value.

Publishing research across approximately 3,000 journals annually, STMJ plays a critical role in advancing scientific discovery and knowledge dissemination worldwide.The STMJ Data & Analytics team is a global group of data professionals dedicated to delivering high-quality insights and analytics that enable data-driven decision-making. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, the team transforms complex data into actionable recommendations that drive performance, innovation, and customer value.**About the Role**We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join our STMJ Data & Analytics team. You will act as a trusted thought partner to stakeholders, leading complex analytics initiatives, independently managing projects, and helping to shape business decisions through data.As a senior member of the team, you will work with a high degree of autonomy, serve as a subject matter expert, and support the development of junior analysts through coaching and knowledge sharing. You'll join a large, established team of data professionals that supports STMJ, with direct access to enterprise-grade platforms and tools, and be a part of a wider Elsevier organisation that's a global leader in information and analytics, helping researchers and healthcare professionals advance science and improve health outcomes worldwide.**Responsibilities*** Lead complex analytics projects from planning through delivery, translating loosely defined business problems into a clear plan of action.* Act as a trusted thought partner to senior stakeholders, shaping strategy, guiding them through hypothesis driven thinking, and challenging assumptions through data.* Identify and execute the most relevant analyses, metrics, and reporting solutions.* Manage multiple projects simultaneously while effectively prioritising workload.* Collaborate with cross-functional business and technical teams to overcome challenges and deliver results.* Continuously adapt to new tools and technologies, evaluating and adopting emerging techniques, including AI-assisted analytics, as the field evolves.* Coach and mentor junior data analysts, sharing best practices and analytical expertise.**Requirements*** Demonstrated ability to influence decision-making through data-backed recommendations.* Proven experience managing projects and delivering results independently.* Good understanding of core analytics concepts, such as data modelling, blending, and visualization.* Experience balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.* Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.* Comfort operating in a fast-changing technical landscape and learning new tools, technologies, and analytical methodologies.* Experience within scholarly communications, publishing, or a related industry is advantageous but not essential.**Applicants must include a cover letter.
