Job summary

BAE Systems Digital Intelligence in London (Southwark) seeks a Senior Cyber Software Engineer / Technical Lead to design, develop and test high‑assurance software for national security clients.

You will lead technical tasks, mentor teammates, and collaborate across disciplines. On-site five days a week with hybrid options depending on the role, with a strong focus on secure coding and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Experience in software engineering with a cybersecurity focus.
• Familiarity with IDEs, debuggers, source control, unit testing, mocking, CI and TDD.
• Knowledge of high-assurance development and IT security importance for organisations.
• Proficiency in at least one solution language (C++, Java, or C#) and one scripting language (Python, JavaScript, Perl, or PowerShell).
• Ability to work across multiple operating systems and learn new languages quickly.
• Strong communication and mentoring capabilities are essential.
• Eligible for Baseline Personnel Security Standard and UK security clearance (eDV).
• UK residency 5–10 years may be required depending on vetting.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and document high-assurance software for national security customers.
• Deliver solutions using secure development practices and CI pipelines.
• Lead peer reviews and mentor junior team members.
• Collaborate across teams to address security and operational constraints.
• Identify design flaws and recommend mitigations.
• Contribute to Operational Cyber Group initiatives and capabilities.
• Support mission-critical capabilities for national security projects.
