Job summary

Sky is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer to develop and implement security strategies protecting data, systems, and networks. You’ll monitor activity, respond to incidents, and shape policies and procedures to align with laws and standards.

This role demands leadership in security operations and continuous improvement across a large enterprise. Hybrid working arrangement applies, with expectations around two days in the office weekly.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing, implementing, securing, and supporting enterprise-scale network security solutions within complex environments.
• Knowledge of firewalls, WAFs, load balancers, VPNs, NAC, routers and switches with hands-on practice.
• Strong networking, OS security hardening for Windows and Linux, and threat remediation capability.
• Experience with cyber security operations including monitoring, detection, incident investigation, encryption, and threat intelligence tools.

Responsibilities

• Develops comprehensive cyber security plans addressing current threats and anticipating future ones.
• Monitors network activity for suspicious behaviour and unauthorised access attempts.

Role/Team Overview

The Senior Network Security Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing security strategies to protect the Organisation’s data, systems, and networks. This includes monitoring network activity, identifying potential threats, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The Senior Analyst will also provide guidance on best practices in cyber security as well as develop policies and procedures related to information security.

What You’ll Do

• Develops comprehensive cyber security plans that address current threats while anticipating future ones.
• Monitors network activity for suspicious behaviour or unauthorised access attempts.
• Investigates any potential breaches of system integrity or other anomalies detected by the monitoring system.
• Responds quickly to any identified incidents or threats by taking appropriate action such as isolating affected systems from the rest of the network or restoring backups when necessary.
• Analyses existing processes and procedures related to information security in order to identify areas of improvement or risk mitigation opportunities.
• Implements new technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), encryption tools etc., in order to improve overall system protection levels against malicious attacks/intrusions/breaches etc..
• Creates detailed reports on all activities related to cyber security including incident response actions taken and recommendations for further improvements/mitigations etc..
• Provides technical advice on cyber security issues both internally within the srganisation as well as externally with customers/partners etc..
• Stays up-to-date with latest developments in technology trends and industry standards related to cyber security and ensure compliance accordingly.

Essential Criteria

What you’ll bring

• Extensive experience designing, implementing, securing, and supportingenterprise-scale network security solutions, including firewalls (Palo Alto, Check Point, Fortinet, Cisco), WAFs (e.g., Akamai), load balancers (F5, Citrix ADC), VPNs, NAC solutions, routers, and switches within complex enterprise environments.
• Manage Network Access Control solutions, create authentication and authorisation rules for workstations and corporate devices, update endpoint posture policies and manage guest access. Investigate connectivity issues, and assist with network access incidents.
• Strong networking and infrastructure security expertise, including TCP/IPfundamentals, routing and switching, DNS, DHCP, NTP, VLANs, network segmentation, NAT, proxy technologies, packet analysis, network troubleshooting,and operating system security hardening for Windows, Linux, and network devices,including vulnerability remediation.
• Hands‑on experience with cyber security operations and technologies,including security monitoring, logging, alerting, threat detection, incident investigation, EDR, anti‑malware/antivirus platforms, vulnerability management,encryption, cryptographic controls, and threat intelligence tools.
• Proven ability to automate and optimise security operations using scripting and infrastructure automation tools such as Python, PowerShell, Shell scripting,Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent technologies.
• Demonstrable experience troubleshooting complex network and security incidents in large‑scale enterprise environments, including supporting live operational incidents, security transformation initiatives, SIEM/SOAR platforms, cloud networking and security (AWS, Azure, GCP), and Zero Trust architectures.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to produce high-quality technical documentation (designs, standards, runbooks, procedures), work effectively across cross‑functional teams, and hold relevant industry‑recognised certifications such as CISSP, OSCP, GIAC/SANS, CCNP Security, CCIE Security, or equivalent.to shape this

Desirable Criteria

• Experience with cloud networking and security (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
• Knowledge of Zero Trust architectures
• Experience with SIEM and SOAR platforms
• Experience supporting large-scale security transformation programmes
