We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our IT department as a Senior Cyber Security Engineer on a full‑time basis in our Glasgow office. We are open to considering candidates on a part‑time or full‑time basis.
What will your role look like?
You’ll be joining a collaborative and forward‑thinking IT team made up of enthusiastic professionals who are passionate about delivering innovative technology solutions. This role sits within our IT Networking & Security team, where we maintain key cyber‑security technologies and the underlying network infrastructure that supports the firm.
As a Senior Cyber Security Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading and contributing to the delivery of strategic cyber‑security projects. Working closely with colleagues and the IT Network & Security Manager, you’ll help shape and deliver our IT Business Plan. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with the latest industry‑leading technologies in an environment that embraces DevOps and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Key tasks will include:
- Act as the Cyber Security Subject Matter Expert on multi‑discipline projects.
- Plan and deliver work using Azure DevOps across projects and BAU activities.
- Serve as the technical lead and escalation point for cyber‑security requests.
- Research and recommend new cyber‑security solutions.
- Design and implement technical solutions to enhance our security posture.
- Mentor junior team members and share knowledge across the team.
- Drive efficiency through automation tools.
- Advise on and respond to security‑related service requests.
- Support the firm’s IT strategy with a focus on security infrastructure.
- Lead technical scoping, vendor selection, implementation, and rollout of infrastructure technologies.
- Proactively monitor and maintain the firm’s security infrastructure.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to build strategic partnerships.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and build business cases for adoption.
- Drive continuous improvement to support our ISO‑27001 accreditation.
- Ensure compliance with our Information Security standards and policies.
To enjoy and succeed in this role, you will have:
- A genuine passion for cyber‑security and a desire to work with cutting‑edge technologies.
- Experience implementing security infrastructure and ideally some networking knowledge.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working in a team.
- Experience in Agile/Scrum environments and working with vendors like Microsoft.
- A degree in IT or equivalent experience.
Certifications that would be advantageous (but not essential):
- Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert, Azure Security Engineer.
- CEH.
- Security+.
- OSCP.
- Checkpoint – CCSA, CCSE.
