Senior Credit Controller (3-Month FTC, Potential to Extend)

Location: Borehamwood

Salary: 33,000 - 35,000 (DOE)

Hours: Full-time, Permanent after FTC potential

Reporting to: Group Financial Controller / CFO

Overview

I’m supporting a well‑established group of businesses based in Borehamwood who are looking for an experienced Senior Credit Controller to join them on an initial three‑month fixed‑term assignment, with a strong chance of extension or a longer‑term opportunity.

This is a great role for someone who enjoys taking full ownership of the credit function across multiple entities, working closely with senior stakeholders, and playing a key part in strengthening cash flow.

Role Purpose

You’ll be responsible for managing the end‑to‑end credit control process across several group companies – monitoring risk, improving debt recovery, and ensuring strong financial controls are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Management

• Oversee credit control processes across multiple group entities
• Review and approve new customer credit applications
• Set and monitor credit limits in line with risk policies
• Keep customer accounts up to date and ensure adherence to payment terms

Collections & Dispute Handling

• Proactively chase overdue debts via phone and email
• Resolve invoice queries and payment discrepancies quickly
• Escalate challenging overdue accounts where appropriate

Reporting & Analysis

• Produce aged debt reports for senior finance leaders
• Highlight risk areas and recommend actions, including service suspension where necessary
• Maintain accurate records of customer communications and credit decisions

Collaboration & Compliance

• Work closely with sales, operations, service delivery, and account managers
• Ensure all processes follow internal controls and audit standards
• Support internal and external audit requirements

What You’ll Need

Essential

• Strong background in credit control, ideally within a group or multi‑entity environment
• Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills
• High attention to detail and ability to work autonomously
• Proficiency with Excel and accounting/ERP systems (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks)
