Job summary

Simmons & Hanbury partnered with a major UK energy business to recruit a senior finance lawyer for its in-house team. The role offers substantial autonomy to structure and negotiate bespoke financings for critical national energy infrastructure.

You will lead on structured trade and commodity finance transactions, advise on receivables and inventory financing, and collaborate with treasury, trading and executive leadership to develop financing solutions.

Qualifications

• Solicitor qualified in England & Wales with 10+ years PQE.
• Strong background in structured trade finance, commodity finance, leverage or structured finance.
• Experience at a leading law firm, financial institution or commodity trading business.
• Expertise in secured lending transactions and security enforcement frameworks.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and transaction management skills.
• Hands-on, self-sufficient; leads deals with minimal outside counsel.

Responsibilities

• Lead legal support for structured trade and commodity finance transactions.
• Advise on receivables finance, inventory finance, borrowing bases and structured credit products.
• Draft, review, and negotiate finance documents and security packages.
• Advise on corporate financing arrangements and infrastructure funding.
• Collaborate with commercial, treasury, trading and leadership teams to craft financing solutions.
• Oversee security structures, intercreditor arrangements, guarantees and collateral frameworks.
• Coordinate external counsel and advisers as required.
• Identify legal, regulatory and commercial risks while supporting business objectives.
• Contribute to strategic investments, joint ventures and growth initiatives.
• Monitor developments in trade finance and energy markets.
