Job summary

Vincere is seeking a Costs Lawyer to join a specialist Niche Costs and Advocacy team in Birmingham. The role suits a qualified Costs Lawyer or someone studying toward qualification, with exposure to high‑value matters across personal injury and commercial litigation.

You will draft budgets and bills, negotiate settlements, attend CCMCs, and manage a busy caseload from early estimates to conclusion, working closely with litigators in a supportive hybrid/onsite environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Costs Lawyer, or actively working towards qualification
• Experience across defendant and claimant costs work preferred
• Confident drafting and negotiation skills with strong attention to detail
• Comfortable handling high-value matters across personal injury and commercial litigation
• Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships
• Able to work efficiently under pressure and manage competing priorities

Responsibilities

• Drafting costs budgets and supporting the budgeting process
• Preparing bills of costs and assessing bills of costs
• Drafting Points of Dispute and Replies
• Drafting Schedules of Costs
• Negotiating costs settlements
• Attending CCMCs and application hearings and undertaking advocacy where appropriate
• Managing a caseload and prioritising deadlines effectively
• Supporting legal teams throughout the lifecycle of matters, from early cost estimates through to conclusion
