This highly regarded national law firm is looking to recruit an experienced Costs Lawyer to join its expanding Insurance Business Services team. You will take responsibility for your own varied caseload of predominantly defendant costs matters, advising on all aspects of costs litigation from instruction through to conclusion. Your workload will include drafting Bills of Costs, Points of Dispute and Replies, preparing Schedules of Costs, negotiating settlements and providing strategic costs advice across a broad spectrum of insurance disputes. The role also offers advocacy opportunities together with the chance to mentor and support more junior members of the team.
The successful candidate will be a qualified Costs Lawyer, Solicitor or equivalent with proven experience managing defendant and/or claimant costs files. You will possess a detailed understanding of the Fixed Recoverable Costs regime together with experience of insurance:related costs work, ideally covering areas such as motor, employers liability, public liability, industrial disease or clinical negligence. Strong drafting skills, commercial awareness and the ability to negotiate confidently on complex matters will be essential.
