Job summary

Turner & Townsend in Manchester is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cost Manager/Project Quantity Surveyor to lead cost management across complex construction projects. You will develop cost plans, forecasts and procurement strategies while providing expert contract and commercial advice to clients and internal teams.

The role expects consultancy experience, MRICS (preferred or in progress), strong communication and collaborative abilities to deliver value and profitability on multi-million pound

Qualifications

• Degree qualified and MRICS (or working towards) would be preferable.
• Experience in cost management within a consultancy or advisory environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed cost plans and budgets for complex construction projects.
• Conduct cost analyses and deliver accurate forecasts across project lifecycles.
• Prepare and analyse bills of quantities, tender documents and contracts.
• Manage procurement including vendor selection and contract negotiation.
• Perform value engineering to optimise costs without sacrificing quality.
• Monitor and report on financial performance, identify risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure cost-effective delivery.
• Provide expert advice on contractual and commercial matters.
• Implement and maintain robust cost control systems.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cost Manager/Project Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Manchester. As a key member of our construction projects division, you will play a crucial role in managing costs, ensuring project profitability, and delivering exceptional value to our clients.

• Develop and maintain detailed cost plans and budgets for complex construction projects
• Conduct thorough cost analysis and provide accurate forecasts throughout project lifecycles
• Prepare and analyse bills of quantities, tender documents, and contract agreements
• Manage the procurement process, including vendor selection and contract negotiation
• Perform value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality
• Monitor and report on project financial performance, identifying potential risks and opportunities
• Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure cost-effective project delivery
• Provide expert advice on contractual and commercial matters to internal teams and clients
• Implement and maintain robust cost control systems and procedures
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to the overall growth of the department

• Degree qualified and MRICS qualified (or working towards) would be preferable
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Inquisitive and problem solving skill base
• Demonstrable cost management experience working at a consultancy
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
