Job summary

Edwards is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer - Sustaining for its Bristol site. The role focuses on writing control and visualization software, improving development processes, and ensuring compliance with safety and design reviews.

You will prepare software specs, contribute to project plans, and support software releases while mentoring peers. A 5+ year background in controls/software and VB.net experience are essential in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• HND (or degree) in a relevant technical discipline, preferably controls/software (Essential)
• Minimum 5 years working in controls/software within relevant industries (Essential)
• HMI programming using VB.net or other high level languages (Essential)
• Compiling software (Essential)
• Communications protocols – Modbus, EdCentra XML (Essential)
• Creation of technical documentation (Essential)
• Administration of software configuration control tools, version numbering, release process and archiving (Essential)
• Safety and design review methods, e.g. HAZOP, FMEA (Essential)
• Industry standards – e.g. SEMI S2, S8 (Desirable)

Responsibilities

• Prepare software specifications for projects
• Follow test procedures and risk assessments safely
• Develop test documents and select test methodologies
• Plan short-term actions and report progress
• Contribute to software plans within project planning
• Improve controls engineering processes
• Investigate quality issues and resolve them
• Create release/build documentation and installation notes
• Contribute to manuals and service instructions
• Share knowledge with colleagues
