Senior Contracts Engineer

Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Contracts Engineer, based in Aberdeen. This is a 12 month PAYE contract to support an overseas project. The role is office‑based five days a week.

Responsibilities
  • Work with the business and existing Duty Holder to identify / establish all contractual requirements needed for the successful transition of Duty Holder on the FPSO.
  • Determine and agree most appropriate strategy associated with the above contractual requirements i.e. novate, tender, single or sole source.
  • Draft and maintain Project Procurement Plan and Tracker (PP) and agree associated delivery dates with key stakeholders.
  • Execute contract works in accordance with PP and Local Content laws / regulations.
  • Ensure work is completed in advance of the go‑live date / targets and objectives met.
  • Co‑ordinate and evaluate contractual submissions, including development of commercial and contractual evaluation models, conducting clarification and negotiation meetings, preparing and presenting recommendations to award to management.
  • Prepare contractual documentation, setting up files in accordance with the Client’s procedures.
  • Research and resolve all commercial / contractual issues involving and / or referring to the Client’s Legal, Finance, Tax and Insurance advisers as appropriate.
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators as appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Substantial and proven experience in establishing major contracts from conception to close‑out with an oil & gas industry operator including construction and shipyard projects.
  • Experience of establishing contracts for areas out with the UK – proven ability to understand country specific terms and conditions.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Organised and able to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Excellent data analysis skills.
  • Negotiation, presentation and influencing skills.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and make decisions.
  • High level of literacy / report writing and numeracy skills.
  • Experience in conducting meetings with contractor and operator personnel up to senior management level.
  • Presenting and negotiating professional opinions in contract and other commercial areas, including all aspects of liabilities, indemnities and insurances and other contractual qualifications (with reference as appropriate to Legal, Tax and Insurance Personnel).
  • Able to work under pressure and sometimes severe time constraints.
  • Overseas travel may be required.
  • Experience of undertaking a similar transition process advantageous.
