The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Contract Manager to take full ownership of high‑profile logistics contract for key clients. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for driving operational performance, commercial success, and strategic client relationships. You will lead a dedicated team, work with multiple internal stakeholders and ensure delivery of exceptional service standards while optimising cost and compliance. This role will be based in the Midlands but will require national travel.

Key Accountabilities
Strategic Contract Leadership
  • Full accountability for a significant customer contract that spans the UK. Ensure contractual compliance, KPI achievement, and delivery of agreed service levels.
  • Drive commercial performance, budget control, and cost optimisation strategies.
  • Act as the senior point of contact for clients, leading performance reviews and fostering long‑term partnerships.
Operational Excellence
  • Oversee daily operations of a dedicated fleet, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and safety.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce operational costs.
  • Utilise data‑driven insights to identify trends and deliver process improvements.
People Leadership
  • Lead, develop, and inspire your team to achieve operational and commercial objectives.
  • Promote a high‑performance culture and ensure effective succession planning.
  • Provide guidance on labour relations and ensure alignment with organisational policies.
Compliance & Governance
  • Champion health, safety, and regulatory compliance across all operations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Procurement, Operations, and People & Culture to deliver seamless service.
What We're Looking For
  • Proven track record in senior contract management within logistics or transport.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in budget management and financial analysis.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Transport Manager CPC desirable; additional qualifications in logistics or supply chain desirable.
Desirable
  • Experience managing complex, multi‑client contracts.
  • Familiarity with retail logistics and customer service principles.
  • Previous experience of delivering significant change programmes.
  • Experience in TUPE.
