Job summary

Foodbuy Group, based in Birmingham, seeks a Senior Contract Accountant to control distribution income recognition, accruals, and balance sheet accuracy. You will lead billing, reconciliations, and quarterly reporting while mentoring the Income & Control team and supporting procurement and supplier invoicing under contractual terms.

The role offers a competitive salary (£36,300) with benefits and a flexible hybrid setup. CPA-style progression and continuous improvement are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Part Qualified or actively working towards ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
• Plan and organise multiple work streams within tight timescales.
• Re-engineer business processes using AI/Microsoft Copilot.
• Deliver proactive, relevant and insightful business decision support.
• Strong numeric and analytical skills with large data sets.
• Able to analyse and evaluate information clearly.
• Communicate concisely to multi-level stakeholders.
• Experience liaising with external auditors.
• Maintain professional scepticism.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate balance sheets, verify accruals, and ensure timely invoicing.
• Oversee distributor pricing reconciliations and resolve variances.
• Support volume analysis and provide insights to the Income & Control team.
• Resolve invoicing queries with Credit Control and stakeholders.
• Deputise for Finance Manager and mentor the Income & Control team.
• Ensure purchasing income management aligns with contractual terms.
• Drive timely financial reporting and correct P&L recognition.
• Improve working capital and identify efficiency opportunities.
• Champion process improvements and policy compliance.
• Turn data into actionable insights in a fast-paced environment.
