Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Senior Consultant to join our Controls & Performance Advisory team, working across major infrastructure programmes in the UK and internationally. You will help set up transformation and performance measures, partnering with clients to drive value and measurable benefits.

You will engage with senior stakeholders, contribute to PMO and controls strategies, and support reports, workshops, and business development activities across projects and programmes.

Qualifications

  • Graduate calibre with relevant industry experience (Master’s degree or equivalent experience desirable).
  • Experience on major capital projects/programmes in the Infrastructure sector (Defence, Nuclear, Rail, Airport, Highways, Utilities) or similar.
  • Familiarity with capability/maturity assessments across capital delivery, PMO or related functions.
  • Experience developing controls & performance integrated processes and digital solutions.
  • Experience writing/presenting reports and engaging with C-suite level client teams.
  • Office 365, Visio, Miro, Slack, Teams, Primavera, PRISM, Power BI or similar tools.
  • Experience in business transformation programmes and change management would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of target operating models and organisational design in capital infrastructure delivery.
  • APM, PMI or similar certification would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the assessment of client environments and help uncover fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Support development, implementation and optimisation of PMO and controls & performance strategies.
  • Support the definition and write-up of reports to support findings and recommendations.
  • Deliver workshops with Sr. (C-suite) client representatives in various environments.
  • Work within diverse, multi-disciplinary teams at client sites and virtually.
  • Deploy methodologies and tools, tailoring them to specific circumstances.
  • Support adoption and realisation of successful business outcomes.
  • Assist in internal development of transformation products and approaches.
  • Support bids, proposals and business generation activities with Senior Management.
  • Identify and progress business-generation opportunities; assist marketing campaigns.

Job Description

Our Programme Advisory team focusses on orchestrating complex strategy, set-up and transformations for public and private sector clients enabling the successful delivery of major programmes both in the UK and internationally.

Our continued success is driving the expansion of our Controls & Performance UK team (service line, part of Programme Advisory) in London and we are seeking to recruit talented individuals at consultant grade, who feel their experience and capabilities could support the controls & performance transformations of our clients’ programmes and organisations.

As a Senior consultant you will get the opportunity to work across several high-profile infrastructure projects, for both private and public clients (UK and globally), supporting the team to successfully deliver business transformation and controls & performance advisory services covering strategy, set-up and optimisation of specific controls & performance functions or project/programme/portfolio management offices.

As part of our Controls & Performance Advisory team you will be expected to contribute across several areas, including:

  • Contribute to the assessment of each client environment and their current challenges and support in utilising our structured approach to discover, deliver and implement a solution that is fit for purpose and enables the client to achieve the desired benefits and outcomes;
  • Support development, implementation and optimisation of PMO and controls & performance related strategies, functional set-up and optimisation;
  • Support the definition and write-up of reports to support findings and recommendations across various stages of client engagements;
  • Support the delivery of workshops in a mix of virtual and face-to-face environments with Sr. (C-suite) client representatives;
  • Work within diverse and multi-disciplinary teams representing Turner & Townsend at both client sites and as well virtually;
  • Deploy established methodologies, processes, tools and systems, tailoring these to suit specific circumstances and contributing to their continuous improvement and development;
  • Support the successful adoption and realisation of successful business outcomes;
  • Support key activities within the Programme Advisory team including internal development of transformation products and approaches;
  • Support various business generation activities such as bids, proposals, etc and work closely alongside Senior Management and the wider Turner & Townsend team;
  • Identify, contribute to and progress business generation opportunities where appropriate;
  • Support marketing and social media campaigns (employee advocacy) where appropriate;
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience and qualifications in line with the below, but we are open to enthusiastic and ambitious individuals who want to pursue a successful consultancy career within the construction industry, keen on enabling clients to achieve successful outcomes.

  • Graduate calibre with relevant industry experience (Master’s degree or equivalent experience desirable);
  • Experience of working on major capital projects/programmes covering one or more roles within the PMO/controls & performance environment (schedule, cost, risk, change or performance reporting) in the Infrastructure sector (Defence, Nuclear, Rail, Airport, Highways, Utilities) or similar;
  • Familiarity with supporting capability/maturity assessments across the capital delivery businesses, PMO, controls & performance or a specific function;
  • Familiarity with supporting the development of controls & performance integrated processes and digital solutions used to create a ‘one version of the truth’ and enable client leadership teams to make informed decision making based on actionable intelligence;
  • Experience with writing/presenting reports and ability to navigate through complex stakeholder environments and engage (as required) with C-suite level, executive client teams;
  • Computer literacy in Office 365 applications, diagramming tools such as Visio, online whiteboarding tools such as Miro, team collaboration tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams or specialist controls & performance software tools such as Oracle Primavera, PRISM, Power BI or similar;
  • Experience of business transformation programmmes and change management would be advantageous;
  • Understanding of strategy and set-up of target operating models and organisational design in the context of capital infrastructure delivery businesses, integrated controls & performance functions or PMO set-ups would be advantageous;
  • APM, PMI or similar certification or equivalent experience would be advantageous.
