Frazer-Nash Consultancy is seeking a Senior Consultant to lead Mission Engineering and Operational Analysis work in a hybrid UK role (Bristol or Portsmouth). You will guide delivery on projects, interact with clients and military experts, and shape analytical approaches to improve operational outcomes.

The role emphasizes collaboration with systems engineering, modelling, and human factors specialists, with a focus on evidence-based recommendations and leadership of project teams.

Qualifications

• Experience leading the technical delivery of analytical, operational, engineering or experimentation activities in Defence, National Security or similarly complex domains.
• Direct experience working with customers and military subject matter experts to understand operational challenges and develop scenarios.
• Experience designing analytical methods, technical solutions, delivery plans and assurance activities to meet customer decision-making needs.
• Experience in one or more technical skillsets listed on the application form.
• Degree in a relevant discipline.

Job Description

Mission Engineering focuses on understanding how people, systems, capabilities and processes work together to deliver operational outcomes. By taking a mission-focused view, we help clients understand the factors that drive success, identify capability gaps, assess future options and make informed investment decisions. The team is highly collaborative, regularly working alongside specialists in systems engineering, software, modelling and simulation, military operations and human factors.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role you will support the growth of our Mission Engineering and Operational Analysis team. Your time will be split between leading delivery of Mission Engineering projects, using your consultancy skills to develop new business, and mentoring others to expand our capability. On projects you will working collaboratively with customers, military subject matter experts, analysts and engineers, applying structured analytical approaches to understand operational problems and develop evidence-based recommendations. While you will work closely with senior technical leaders and experienced Mission Engineers, you will be expected to manage day-to-day delivery activities and become a trusted lead for Mission Engineering tasks.

Requirements

Essential

• Have experience leading the technical delivery of analytical, operational, engineering or experimentation activities within Defence, National Security or similarly complex domains. This to include holding responsibility for delivery of projects, with a team size of 3 or more.
• Are experienced working directly with customers and military subject matter experts to understand operational challenges, develop scenarios, mission threads and analytical frameworks.
• Are experienced designing analytical methods, technical solutions, delivery plans and assurance activities to meet customer decision-making requirements.
• Have experience in one or more of the technical skillsets listed on the application form.
• Hold a degree in a relevant discipline.

Desirable

• Have applied Mission Engineering approaches or principles.
• Have developed operational architectures, mission threads or capability assessments.
• Have experience integrating evidence from multiple analytical sources or modelling & simulation to support decision-making.
• Have contributed to proposal development, business development or service growth.
• Have supported the development of others through mentoring, knowledge sharing or thought leadership.
