Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to lead a growing specialist airport infrastructure business. Based at our Northampton headquarters with UK-wide travel, you will shape the construction function and influence delivery strategy.

You will provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple projects, drive safety, quality and profitability, and work closely with design, engineering and commercial teams to deliver high-profile schemes from pre-construction

Qualifications

• Experience working with/alongside a Principal Contractor.
• Strong scheduling, programme and delivery management skills.
• Thorough knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Work 0-7.
• Buildability, design coordination and CDM compliance.
• Excellent client and senior stakeholder management; travel UK-wide.

Responsibilities

• Providing senior leadership across multiple concurrent UK construction projects.
• Developing and implementing construction standards, governance and delivery strategy.
• Leading and developing Project Managers, Site Managers and wider delivery teams.
• Driving programme, safety, quality, productivity and commercial performance.
• Overseeing design coordination, buildability and construction readiness through RIBA Stages 0-7.
• Integrating off-site manufacture, modular construction and DfMA into delivery where appropriate.
• Managing complex interfaces across design, engineering, procurement, manufacturing and construction.
• Ensuring safe and effective delivery within live airport and operational environments.
• Building strong relationships with clients, airport operators, contractors and senior stakeholders.
• Providing construction expertise across pre-construction, tenders, business development and strategic growth.
• Driving continuous improvement, lessons learned and the development of a scalable construction function.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for an accomplished Senior Construction Manager to take a leading role in a growing specialist airport infrastructure business.

This is more than project delivery. You will have the opportunity to shape the construction function, influence delivery strategy and build the capability needed to support future growth.

Based out of our Northamptonshire Headquarters and with UK-wide travel, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple UK construction projects, ensuring safe, profitable and high-quality delivery. Working closely with design, engineering, manufacturing and commercial teams, you will drive construction excellence from pre-construction through to handover.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Providing senior leadership across multiple concurrent UK construction projects.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

• Strong experience working for, or closely alongside, a Principal Contractor.
• Excellent construction planning, programme and delivery management skills.
• Thorough working knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Work 0-7.
• Strong multidisciplinary design coordination and buildability experience.
• Solid understanding of CDM, construction Health and Safety and risk management.
• Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of the link between methodology, programme, cost and profitability.
• Experience managing subcontractors, specialist contractors and supply chains.
• Excellent client and senior stakeholder management skills.
• The credibility and confidence to challenge, make decisions and intervene when delivery is at risk.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the UK.

Desirable experience:

• Experience in airport / aviation infrastructure, live operational environments, modular / off-site construction, MMC, DfMA, complex logistics, high-security or regulated environments would be highly advantageous.
• Relevant qualifications such as SMSTS, CSCS management-level certification and a construction, engineering or related professional qualification are expected.
