Job summary

Senior Conservation Officer

Location: Stenson Road, LE67 4JP

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 3+ Months

Working Hours: Mon - Fri, 09:00 - 17:00, 37 Hours per week

Pay Rate: £20.71 Per Hour

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on conservation and historic buildings to the Planning and Development team.
  • Assess and recommend on listed building consent applications.
  • Prepare appeal statements and provide evidence at hearings and inquiries.
  • Advise customers on planning and heritage matters, including pre-application advice.
  • Conduct character appraisals and manage conservation areas.
  • Carry out buildings at risk surveys.
  • Contribute to planning policies related to heritage issues.
  • Support economic regeneration and growth projects.
  • Ensure high standards of health and safety.
  • Promote equality and diversity in service provision.
Person Specifications
Must Have
  • Ability to present applications and give evidence at hearings and inquiries.
  • Experience in character appraisals and historic building reports.
  • Knowledge of planning legislation related to conservation.
  • Experience with listed building consent applications.
  • Proficiency in IT software, including planning systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with good communication skills.
  • Degree in conservation or a related field.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in a local planning authority.
  • Experience with economic regeneration projects related to historic environments.
  • Driving license.
