Job summary

A UK bank is seeking a Senior Conduct & Compliance Oversight Officer for a 12-month fixed-term contract in London. The successful candidate will provide oversight over first line defense teams to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations. Senior Conduct & Compliance Oversight Officer (12 month FTC)

We are looking for a Senior Conduct & Compliance Oversight Officer to provide second line of defence (2LoD) oversight over 1LoD (first line of defence) teams, so that they meet their regulatory obligations and effectively manage regulatory compliance and conduct risks. This role is a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Responsibilities

• Deliver thematic Conduct & Compliance Oversight reviews as part of a high-performing Oversight team, providing independent challenge to Starling Bank's 1LoD.
• Deliver thematic reviews with an initial focus on customer and control remediation.
• Write up findings related to oversight reviews in a timely, clear, and accurate manner.
• Build strong relationships with 1LoD to enable a collaborative working environment between Compliance and the business.
• Support team members with the completion and delivery of compliance reviews and findings.

Requirements

• Good working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Experience in compliance monitoring.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate to a variety of audiences.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand and interpret business knowledge.
• Sound judgement, decision-making, planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to see things through to resolution.
• Curious and inquisitive approach, proactively questioning the status quo where appropriate.
• Resilience and willingness to have difficult conversations.
• Previous experience in a 2LoD Oversight or 3LoD Internal Audit role is preferred but not essential.
