Job summary

Avove Utilities is seeking a Senior CAD Technician to join the Design team in a hybrid Derby-based role. You will deliver design and modelling work across utilities projects, collaborating with the Design Lead and CAD Manager to maintain BIM standards.

The ideal candidate will have an HNC/HND in Engineering and strong Autodesk Civil 3D/Navisworks/Revit skills, with a background in multi-disciplinary project environments. Water/utilities sector experience is advantageous but not required.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Engineering or equivalent is required or highly preferred.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D, Navisworks and related 3rd party software is essential.
• Basic project management understanding in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Work to project controls, guidelines and procedures.
• Support the Design Lead/CAD Manager and team in design tasks.
• Undertake design and modelling using Autodesk Civil 3D and other software.
• Support BIM procedures on relevant projects.
• Produce AutoCAD drawings following CAD procedures.
• Assist with project documentation and reports.

Job description

We’re looking for a Senior CAD Technician to work within our Design function.

Location: Derby – This role offers hybrid working, combining office and site attendance with home-based working.

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £40,000 - £56,000 (Depending on experience)

Due to continued growth, we are looking to appoint a Senior CAD Technician to join our Design team.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, with a strong technical background and the ability to contribute to the delivery of high-quality design solutions. Experience within the water or utilities sector would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities:

• Work to project controls, guidelines and procedures
• Support the Design Lead/CAD Manager and other team members in undertaking a wide range of design related tasks
• Undertake design, and modelling activities using Autodesk Civil 3D or other third-party software packages where appropriate (ie. Autodesk Revit, Navisworks)
• Supporting the adherence of BIM Procedures on relevant projects
• Production of AutoCAD drawings in accordance with the CAD procedures
• Assisting with the production of project documentation, and reports

About you:

• HNC/HND in Engineering, or relevant discipline (or a similar approved qualification)
• Computer literate and conversant with Autodesk Civil 3D, Autodesk Navisworks and associated 3rd party packages, and MS Office suite
• Basic project management understanding in a multi-disciplinary project environment
