Skipton Building Society is seeking a Senior Compliance Policy Consultant to oversee data protection compliance and advise on regulatory change. The role collaborates with stakeholders across the Group Risk function to ensure customer outcomes and robust controls.

Hybrid working from Skipton Head Office with 3 days on site; you will interpret UK GDPR and PECR developments, provide second-line oversight, and help shape policy and risk management across the organisation.

You’ll work closely with the Senior Compliance and Data Protection Manager, and other colleagues in the wider risk function.Our structure provides a strong blend of expertise and developmental support, and you’ll be expected to play a key role within the senior consultant group - sharing knowledge, supporting others, and helping to shape the team’s overall output.You’ll partner closely with stakeholders mainly across the Society acting as a trusted advisor and working in partnership to provide expert interpretation of regulatory requirements.What Will You Be Doing?In this role, you will have the opportunity to:Identify, interpret and communicate regulatory developments, particularly those impacting data protection, and support the implementation of regulatory change.Provide expert second-line oversight, advice and constructive challenge on compliance with the UK GDPR, PECR and other relevant regulation.Act as a key referral point for complex regulatory queries.Lead compliance input into business and transformation initiatives, working collaboratively with stakeholders.Support and influence the development of effective systems and controls to manage data protection risk.Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business and external bodies.Support knowledge sharing and contribute to continuous improvement within the Compliance team.What Do We Need From You?We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate the following:Strong experience in data protection compliance, including interpreting and applying data protection requirements in practice.Experience providing compliance oversight, advice, and constructive challenge to stakeholders.Ability to apply regulatory knowledge pragmatically with a strong customer-outcome focus.Confidence to influence, provide constructive challenge, and engage stakeholders at all levels.Ability to think independently, make well-reasoned decisions and take accountability for them.Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)Strong relationship-building capability, with the ability to work collaboratively across a wide stakeholder group.Relevant qualifications such as CIPP/E or Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection are desirable.What’s In It For You?Skipton values work/life balance and we are proud to support hybrid and flexible working.
