Job summary

Stott and May is seeking a Senior Compliance Manager focused on Data, Personal Data and Compliance Risks in Greater London. You will design, implement, and maintain a risk-based compliance programme with emphasis on GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

You will provide independent oversight, guidance to governance forums, and support internal controls while collaborating with regulators and stakeholders to strengthen the organisation's compliance culture.

Senior Compliance Manager – Data, Personal Data & Compliance Risks

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced compliance professional to play a key role in strengthening the compliance framework, with a focus on data protection and personal data risk.

In this role, you will help design, implement, and maintain a robust, risk-based compliance programme. You will provide independent oversight and practical guidance on compliance risks, particularly in relation to GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Acting as a trusted adviser, you will support governance forums, enhance internal controls, and promote a strong compliance culture across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and challenge on compliance risk management
• Conduct compliance monitoring in line with the compliance plan

Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory advisory within financial services
• In-depth knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks (FCA, PRA, Bank of England)
• Solid understanding of GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018
• Ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them practically
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proactive and adaptable approach in a changing regulatory environment
• Familiarity with international market regulations and standards
• Experience supporting Data Protection Officers
• Relevant professional certifications (e.g. CIPP, CIPM, CISA)

Background

• Degree in a relevant discipline; professional qualifications advantageous
• Around 5+ years’ experience in compliance or risk within financial services
