Job summary

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust in the UK is seeking a full-time Complex Upper Limb (Shoulder/Elbow/Wrist/Hand) & Trauma Surgery Consultant. The post is based across Hastings and Eastbourne, initially locum with a view to conversion to a substantive role.

The role supports elective and trauma patients, with opportunities for teaching, CME, governance, audits and on-call duties within a busy Orthopaedic department.

Qualifications

• Teaching junior staff and medical students.
• Active participation in continuing CME activities.
• Engagement in clinical governance and audit activities.
• Ability to lead and coordinate trauma/orthopaedic teams.
• Commitment to high standards of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Share day-to-day management of trauma & orthopaedic patients with colleagues.
• Lead and participate in the trauma unit's MDT meetings and rounds.
• Attend weekly timetables, including on-call nights and weekends.
• Record findings, optimise patients prior to surgery and maintain care post‑op.
• Participate in education and training for junior staff and students.
