Job Summary

Are you ready to take the next step in your Community Nursing career? We're offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Community Nurse in our North and West Bristol Locality. You'll gain valuable leadership experience, enhance your clinical knowledge, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient‑centred care in the community.

You will be fully supported to:

• Develop your leadership and management skills
• Gain experience in a senior nurse role
• Work within a supportive and innovative team
• Make a meaningful impact in local communities

Responsibilities

• Complete holistic assessments of service users.
• Develop and deliver person‑centred care plans.
• Line manage junior staff and contribute to their development through supervision, 1:1s and training.
• Undertake and complete the appropriate training, supported by a robust competency framework, within the time allocated, to carry out the requirements of the role and deliver a competent clinical service.
• Communicate with the senior leadership team in the locality to ensure smooth delivery of service.
• Identify risks and act accordingly to minimise risk to self, service users and colleagues in line with organisational policy and procedures.
• Coordinate shifts and delegate/allocate care to the team in accordance with policy.
• Act as a point of escalation for staff to report to on discovering any issues or deteriorations.
• Undertake further training as required to develop extended skills and enhance patient care.

Qualifications

• BSc or equivalent experience in Adult Nursing
• Current NMC registration
• Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to lifelong learning

Skills, knowledge and experience

• Able to effectively lead a team with senior support when required
• Able to make clinically reasoned judgements when working with a variety of conditions
• Experience of supervising staff and students of own profession
• Effective time management and caseload management

Desirable

• Recent relevant experience within the community setting including management of the frail complex patient
• Experience of supervising staff and students from other professions
