A conservation charity in the UK is seeking a Senior Communications and Marketing Officer to lead marketing efforts for Anglesey Abbey and Fenland. This role involves creating compelling content across various channels and supporting property teams. Ideal candidates should have excellent communication skills and experience in planning marketing campaigns. The position offers competitive benefits including flexible working arrangements.
In line with our redeployment policy, we’ll prioritise applications from employees who are under formal notice of redundancy.
We’re looking for a Senior Communications and Marketing Officer to plan and lead our communications and marketing for the Anglesey Abbey and Fenland portfolio, which includes Wicken Fen National Nature Reserve, with a wide‑range programme of events and conservation work. In this varied role, you’ll promote what we do, across the full marketing mix – through media relations, social media and web content. With your help we can share our charity work in caring for the nation’s heritage and landscapes, making them accessible to all.
You’ll work closely with the Anglesey Abbey and Fenland teams, which may include spending time at remarkable sites such as Wicken Fen National Nature Reserve and Houghton Mill. Your main base will be working from Anglesey Abbey, with flexibility to work across the sites you support and occasional home working. There will be the opportunity to explore and agree on a hybrid working arrangement that strikes the right balance for you and the National Trust.
Anglesey Abbey boasts an eclectic collection and gardens attracting over 400,000 visitors annually. Houghton Mill and Wicken Fen offer nationally significant heritage and natural beauty.
This is a fixed term contract due to end when the previous employee returns from maternity leave. At this point we cannot confirm exactly how long this contract will last, but it is unlikely to be more than 10 months.
You’ll be on hand to offer support and advice to property colleagues and take the lead on all marketing and communications activity at the places you oversee. You'll be planning, creating, editing, proof‑reading, co‑ordinating, collating and sharing content for offline and online channels. You will work on our website and support our social media activity, sharing fascinating stories about the work we do with the media and enticing visitors to come back season after season.
Overall, it’s a diverse and challenging role and a great step for those wanting to pursue a career in marketing and communications.
