Job summary

Salford Council is seeking a Senior Commissioning Manager to lead and shape innovative, outcome‑driven services for children, young people and families in Salford. You will oversee strategic commissioning, ensure statutory compliance and support a high‑performing market.

With line management responsibility and collaboration with HR, you will work with Elected Members and Directors to drive improvement, maintain DBS processes, and build strong provider relationships to secure sustainable services.

Qualifications

• Experience of line management of a small team.
• Ability to work with HR in supporting colleagues as required.
• Experience working at a strategic level, communicating with Elected Members, Directors and Senior Managers.

Responsibilities

• Ensure commissioned services meet statutory requirements and demonstrate impact on outcomes.
• Support continuous improvement and provide strategic oversight of children's placements, shaping the market and sufficiency.
• Lead robust procurement activity to ensure services are high‑performing and sustainable.
• Collaborate with providers and build relationships to respond to the needs of children, young people and families.
