Job Description

Are you ready to lead with impact and shape the future of sustainable infrastructure? Egis UK is seeking a forward‑thinking Senior Commercial Manager to join our expanding team, delivering high‑value programmes across the Nuclear spectrum. This is your chance to drive commercial excellence, influence strategic outcomes, and grow your career across some of the UK’s most vital sectors.

Your Role & Impact

Reporting to the Nuclear Commercial Lead, you’ll work directly with our clients, leading a team of commercial professionals across multi‑million‑pound portfolios of contracts. You’ll provide strategic oversight from procurement through to close‑out, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and risk profiles. You’ll also engage with senior stakeholders, regulators, and strategic partners to ensure commercial integrity and performance.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Commercial Leadership
  • Work directly with our key clients, providing excellent commercial expertise and capability across the delivery lifecycle. This may be through secondment arrangements and being embedded within the client organisation.
  • Lead commercial delivery across complex, multi‑workstream programmes, guiding procurement strategies and contract preparation through to management and close‑out.
  • Prepare, develop and implement practical commercial solutions to support and guide our clients.
  • Oversee contract execution, management, supplier performance evaluation and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC3/4 and FIDIC contracts, UK law, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
  • Collaborate closely with multi‑disciplinary teams and client stakeholders to ensure commercial clarity and compliance.
  • Build and foster strong supply‑chain relationships.
  • Develop and build a strong industry network across clients and partners.
  • Lead the building and development of broader commercial and cost‑management capability.
  • Support the work‑winning team to review and identify risks and accountabilities within tender packs and contractual terms.
Project & Cost Management
  • Lead commercial portfolios working closely with colleagues and associated disciplines to deliver a consistent and high‑quality outcome.
  • Support feasibility studies, benchmarking, business case development and value management.
  • Lead cost planning, estimating, and final cost plan presentation.
  • Manage post‑contract cost variances, valuations, and change control.
  • Oversee final account negotiation and post‑project evaluation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Business Growth
  • Act as a trusted interface with clients, consultants, and delivery teams.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape strategies and support robust decision‑making.
  • Provide expert commercial insight.
  • Maintain a robust database of lessons learned and outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement across commercial processes and tools.
Qualifications
  • A qualification in a related subject (e.g. Quantity Surveying, Construction Law).
  • Chartership in a related subject (or working towards).
  • Expert commercial acumen and experience operating within client organisations.
  • Strong financial modelling and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent client‑facing and supply‑chain facing skills.
  • Experience of managing teams.
  • A self‑starter with the enthusiasm and ability to inspire and motivate people.
  • Extensive experience in nuclear, water, environment, defence, rail, highways or other major/complex infrastructure sectors.
  • In‑depth knowledge of CDM regulations and risk management.
  • Expert in NEC3/4 contracts.
  • Experience and familiarity across the full construction programme lifecycle.
  • A strong appetite for continuous learning and self‑development.
  • Fully conversant with all commonly utilised office IT packages as well as industry‑specific systems (e.g. contract management).
  • Willingness to work on‑site at least 3 days per week (London or Manchester area).
