Education

Job Title – Senior CNC Machine Operator
Location – Portland
Working Pattern – Shifts (including days, nights and weekends)

The CNC Machine Operator will be working within Hydro International's UK Wastewater Services (UKWWS) team. We support water utility companies by improving sewage sites across the United Kingdom.

We are looking for an experienced/qualified CNC machine operator to join us at our Portland branch.

In this job you will…
  • Set up and operate XYZ CNC machines to produce components to tight tolerances
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD files
  • Conduct in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance and report machine faults
  • Maintain production records and ensure compliance with ISO standards
  • Support junior operators and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with production, quality, and engineering teams
About You
Skills & Experience
  • Experience operating XYZ CNC Lathe (XYZ Milling advantageous)
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming (G-code/FANUC/Siemens)
  • Ability to work independently and manage shift priorities
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and inspection tools
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts (days, nights, weekends)
Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or CNC Machining
  • Apprenticeship in engineering (preferred but not essential)
  • Forklift or overhead crane licence (desirable)
