Job summary

Virgin Active & KAUAI is seeking a Senior Solution Architect to join our Digital & Technology Transformation Team in London. You will lead architecture across our digital ecosystem, shaping secure, scalable, API-led and cloud-native solutions.

This hands-on role collaborates with Product, Engineering, Data, Marketing and IT to set technical direction, advance AI integration, and deliver world-class member experiences.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with senior architectural experience.
• Experience leading architecture across mobile, web, backend, integration and data platforms.
• Proven knowledge of Azure, cloud-native and microservices environments.

Responsibilities

• Own target architecture and technical roadmap for Virgin Active’s digital ecosystem.
• Define standards for applications, APIs, data, security and cloud infra.
• Design secure, scalable solutions across mobile, web, backend and data platforms.
• Lead complex feature designs spanning multiple products and domains.
• Create reference implementations and guide engineers to resolve technical challenges.
• Drive cloud-native, API-led and event-driven transitions.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data, Marketing and IT to align tech with business goals.
• Lead architecture reviews and communicate decisions, risks and trade-offs clearly.
• Provide technical guidance to strengthen architectural capability across the team.
• Oversee Azure architecture, including networking, identity, security and infra.
• Establish standards for reliability, observability, testing, CI/CD and production readiness.
• Balance long-term goals with debt, cost and delivery priorities.
• Oversee third-party platforms, vendors and external delivery partners.
