Job summary

Framestore is shaping the future of cloud-first and machine learning strategies by developing core software and automation to scale compute across the business. You will build highly available automation workflows and self-healing cloud systems while driving security and governance for a global footprint.

Ideal candidates will have strong Python and IaC experience, plus a proven track record with Snowflake/BigQuery data platforms, Kubernetes, and distributed automation pipelines like GitLab CI.

Qualifications

• Experience designing high-availability, multi-environment cloud infrastructure using IaC (ideally Terraform) and container orchestration.
• Proven track record in the design and management of cloud-based data systems, such as Snowflake or BigQuery.
• A strong software background (ideally Python) with a proven track record of architecting scalable services and APIs.
• Ability to build, scale, and secure distributed automation pipelines (like GitLab CI) focusing on performance, caching, and testing frameworks.
• Experience supporting engineering teams, championing DevSecOps best practices, and collaborating with tech leadership.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between infrastructure engineering and development team workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build highly available automation workflows and orchestrators that enable distributed builds, cross-platform compute scaling, and deployment of AI agents and data-heavy models
• Design and implement event-driven automation and self-healing cloud systems that proactively detect, diagnose, and remediate infrastructure anomalies
• Architect robust cloud security frameworks, identity management, and automated governance baselines across our global footprint
• Design and optimise big data infrastructure for handling large metadata datasets and media assets, whilst identifying opportunities to reduce infrastructure spend without compromising performance

About the Role

This is a new, hands-on role within our team. You’ll play a vital part in building the future of our cloud-first and machine learning strategies, writing the core software and automation that drives them. In this role, you will be actively developing high-availability automation workflows and building resilient big data pipelines that scale compute across the business. You will provide cloud and systems support for developers building complex agentic applications, while driving DevOps best practices to ensure our cloud services are built for the future.

You’ll drive the evolution of our cloud infrastructure by designing and implementing automation solutions that scale across the organisation. Your work will span cloud-native practices, machine learning infrastructure, and intelligent systems that keep our environment secure, resilient, and cost-effective.

What you’ll do:

Essential Skills:

Nice-to-have Skills:

• Experience designing setups that span cloud providers and local physical servers
• Knowledge of virtualisation of service applications
• Advanced monitoring experience using tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or ELK.
• A professional-level cloud certification
• Production experience managing complex Kubernetes clusters and high-scale Docker environments.
• Experience using advanced data platform features like vector embeddings, clustering, and analytics to enrich large-scale datasets
