Job description
Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology ST3

Closing date: 22 December 2025.

This is a one‑year post (extendable for an exceptional candidate) with the post divided between medical education, including simulation‑based teaching, and providing registrar‑level clinical service.

Teaching provision

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop a wide‑ranging understanding of educational theory and teaching methodology supported by the Clinical Lead for Education and the HEE KSS simulation lead.
  • Collaborate with the multi‑professional education team (practice development midwives, obstetricians, obstetric anaesthetists, and fetal monitoring midwives) to deliver the maternity training programme.
  • Develop and maintain educational materials, teaching aids, and tools.
Main duties of the job

Clinical training: The candidate will be expected to work at ST3+ level. The job plan will include 10 PAs per week, covering education and clinical sessions such as general gynaecology and antenatal clinics, theatre sessions, maternity triage, delivery suite, early pregnancy and gynaecology assessment unit, colposcopy and rapid access. Depending on training needs and existing skill set, opportunities to complete Advanced Training Skills Modules may be negotiated (e.g., Advanced labour ward practice, Advanced antenatal practice, Maternal medicine, early pregnancy, and acute gynaecology). Candidates should be enthusiastic, well‑motivated, and good communicators.

Qualifications and Training
  • Full GMC Registration with license to practice.
  • MBBS or equivalent.
  • MRCOG Part 1.
  • Higher Medical Degree or qualification.
  • MRCOG Part 2 Completion of basic ultrasound module or equivalent.

Skills and Experience
