Senior Clinical Support Worker

University Hospitals of North Midlands is currently unable to provide sponsorship for this role. This is in accordance with UKVI guidelines and legislation, as these roles do not meet the skill nor salary threshold for sponsorship. If you hold a graduate visa, you are welcome to apply for this role; however, UHNM will be unable to offer sponsorship at the end of your graduate visa. You must also have at least six months until your graduate visa expires at the start of your employment for training and operational reasons.

Interviews

To be considered for interview you must bring evidence of the following qualifications:

  • GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or Level 2 Functional Skills for Maths and English.
  • A Full Care Certificate OR NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (we can only accept NVQ's from a regulated awarding body).

If you hold overseas GCSE equivalent qualifications, you will need to bring an ECCTIS comparability statement for your GCSE equivalent qualifications along with your original certificate.

If you do not bring the above qualifications to your interview, then the interview will not proceed.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit motivated and enthusiastic Senior Clinical Support workers to join our dynamic and friendly teams and provide safe and supportive care to patients, relatives and their loved ones. In this post you would be responsible for providing fundamental elements of patient care as directed by the qualified nursing/midwifery team to ensure our patients receive the highest standard of dignified and respectful care, in accordance with their care plans. We are looking for people who are compassionate and feel passionately about providing a level of care they would wish for their family and friends.

The successful applicants will be based at Royal Stoke University Hospital. As provision of care is a 24‑hour, 7‑days‑a‑week career, you will be required to work shifts, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Taking Clinical Observations and Recording on Vitals/Papero Venepuncture

  • Taking clinical observations
  • Use of vital paco glucose monitor
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Urine analysis (strip)
  • Taking fecal samples
  • Carry out 12‑lead ECG
  • Observing patients for signs of agitation or distress (clinical holding/ restraint)
  • Wound observation
  • Simple wound dressing
  • Removal of peripheral cannula
  • Take swabs (e.g., MRSA)
  • Support and assist new staff – buddy system / care certificate supervisor

Experience
  • 12 months experience in a professional contract as a Healthcare Assistant or equivalent
Qualifications
  • Educated to GCSE level 4/C or Level 2 equivalent, including Maths and English (ECCTIS is required for overseas qualifications)
  • Hold a full Care Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (NVQ must be from an accredited awarding body)
