Join our dedicated team in the Haematology and Oncology unit, where we deliver safe, compassionate care to children with haematology and oncology disorders.

As a Senior Clinical Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring a positive experience for patients and their families. You’ll help maintain a safe and reassuring setting, working closely with a collaborative team to support children through their journey.

Ward 6 cares for a diverse range of patients, and we pride ourselves on our team culture, professionalism, and commitment to high‑quality care.

About You

  • You’ll be confident working with children and families, using initiative, and supporting a multidisciplinary team.
  • You’ll bring experience from a care or health & social care setting ideally in a hospital or community environment.
Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Clinical Department Manager or Supervisor, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Support the multidisciplinary team in delivering safe, effective care to children on Ward 6.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and child‑friendly environment.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and care of children on Ward 6.
  • You will also contribute to the smooth running of the unit by supporting stock management, equipment checks, and administrative duties as required.
  • Take capillary bloods (training given)

Qualifications/Training
  • GCSE A-C English or Level 2 equivalent
  • GCSE A-C Maths or Level 2 equivalent
  • To have or be committed to undertaking & completing a Vocational Award Level 3 in Health
  • To hold evidence of completing a Care Certificate or have completed in‑house Band 2 competency package
  • Committed to completing competency packages as per clinical area
  • Vocational Award Level 3 in Health or Health & Social Care
Experience
  • Experience in a Care or Health & Social Care environment within a hospital or community setting
  • Worked in a customer facing environment
