Qualifications

• Must work largely independently under supervision of a Consultant Chemical Pathologist.

Responsibilities

• Assist in resolving analytical problems with laboratory staff at all levels.
• Provide final authorisation of complex test results and comment on reports.
• Act as an independent practitioner under supervision to advise on investigations and interpretation of results.
• Use professional judgement to discuss investigations and data interpretation with clinical staff.
• Involve national laboratories in initial investigations of suspected rare conditions.
• Take active role in departmental scientific work and collaboration with other departments.
• Evaluate and implement new analysers and techniques as required.
