Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and dynamic pharmacist to work in a collaborative clinical & academic post between the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and the University of Birmingham. The post holder will work across both organisations.

At RWT you will work alongside our Principal Pharmacist for Education and Training to deliver high-quality undergraduate clinical pharmacy placements and support the development of our wider pharmacy team.

At the University of Birmingham you will contribute to the well-established educational and research excellence of the School of Pharmacy.

This post is contracted for 30 hours per week (0.8 WTE), with the contracted base being The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.

The department is exploring opportunities to increase the hours to 37.5, contingent upon securing supplementary funding and the post-holder taking on additional responsibilities. This is not guaranteed at the point of offer/contract and is subject to funding availability and service needs. Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside our Principal Pharmacist for Education and Training, and the wider pharmacy Education and Training team.

Support the Pharmacy Department and University of Birmingham through delivery of high-quality undergraduate pharmacy placements.

Contribute to the development of all pharmacy professionals as directed by the Principal Pharmacist. Examples include: supporting the post‑registration development of Newly Qualified Pharmacists, Trainee Pharmacists, and senior pharmacy technicians.

Build stronger partnerships between the Pharmacy Department and School of Pharmacy to the benefit of both parties, for example delivering shared research opportunities.

Maintain expert‑level clinical pharmacy skills and contribute to clinical pharmacy services at ward and dispensary level.

Work collaboratively with Education and Training leads across the multi‑disciplinary team within the Trust and develop innovative ways to deliver inter‑professional education and learning.

At the university, the postholder will participate in the design, development, delivery, and leadership of a range of programmes of study with a focus on the principles of Clinical Pharmacy relevant to undergraduate pharmacy, postgraduate education, or CPD delivery. This will involve a wide range of subjects relevant to the practice of pharmacy or clinical applications of pharmacy. Scholarship aligned to the core research themes of the College and/or School would be advantageous.
