A prominent healthcare provider in Coventry is seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. This role requires advanced knowledge and at least 5 years of specialist registrar training. The fellow will be involved in outpatient clinics, supervise treatments, and gain hands-on surgical experience in a supportive environment. Ideal candidates will have passed their FRCS (T&O) examination and seek to advance their specialized experience prior to a Consultant position. Senior Clinical Fellowship In Shoulder and Elbow

Applications are invited for the post of Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, covering University Hospital Coventry and Hospital of St Cross Rugby. The Fellowship is designed for senior experienced trainees who have passed their FRCS (Tr & Orth) examination or equivalent, gained their CCT and who wish to gain specialist surgical experience prior to a Consultant post. Specialist knowledge in the field of Shoulder and Elbow surgery is required (minimum of 12 months in Shoulder and Elbow posts at SpR level) and the fellow will be expected to undertake some independent clinical work in outpatients and the operating theatre. However, the popularity of the Fellowship is based on the volume of supervised operating the Fellow undertakes along with the specialist Shoulder and Elbow Trauma component.

Fellowship availability dates: From February 2026 - August 2026 and August 2026 - August 2027

This job is a post CCT position. Applications from suitably qualified overseas candidates are welcome, and we can assist successful candidates in obtaining sponsored GMC registration through the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Main duties of the job
  • Regular Orthopaedic outpatient clinics at UH Coventry and St Cross Rugby Hospitals.
  • Operating sessions as required.
  • Supervising the treatment of patients in UH Coventry and at St Cross Rugby Hospital.
  • Carrying out our regular ward rounds as appropriate.
  • Participation in clinical audit.
  • Active involvement in the training and supervision of Junior Medical Staff on ward rounds, in theatre and in clinics, including the teaching of medical and nursing students.
