A major acute Trust in Wolverhampton is seeking a middle-grade doctor to join the Paediatrics department. The successful candidate will provide inpatient care, collaborate with colleagues, and develop skills in acute paediatrics. This role is suitable for an experienced doctor at ST3 or higher level, and offers opportunities for professional development. Candidates will work an average of 48 hours per week and participate in on-call duties. Training and support for medical education will be provided.
The post holder will work in the Paaeditarics department, being an integral member of the Paediatric team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing ward support as a 'middle grade', working alongside the consultant of the week to provide inpatient care for Paediatric patients. They will also gain experience in outpatient clinics.
This is a post that has been designed for the need of a trainee wishing to gain further experience in Acute Paediatrics within the NHS in the UK. This will be suitable for an experienced doctor at ST3 or higher level.
This post will provide the successful applicant with 12 months in a Tier 2 post and the post-holder will be based in general paediatrics. The post-holder will be expected to participate in the Tier 2 on-call rota to cover General Paediatrics during day and overnight working on average not more than 48 hours weekly.
This post would suit a candidate who would like to gain skills in paediatrics in both the acute setting and in the outpatient environment. There are opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in sub-specialist areas within acute paediatrics.
The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust was established in 1994 and is a major acute Trust providing a comprehensive range of services for the people of Wolverhampton, the wider Black Country, Staffordshire, North Worcestershire and Shropshire. It gained Cancer Centre status in 1997, was designated as the 4th Regional Heart & Lung Centre during 2004/05 and became one of the first wave Bowel Screening Centres in 2006. The Trust is the largest teaching hospital in the Black Country providing teaching and training to around 130 medical students on rotation from the University of Birmingham Medical School. It also provides training for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals through well-established links with the University of Wolverhampton. One of the largest acute and community providers in the West Midlands the Trust has an operating budget of almost £380 million, more than 800 beds on 3 sites and employs around 8,000 staff.
