Job description
Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery

The closing date is 26 January 2026.

This senior clinical fellow post (ST5+ equivalent) is based within the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, which has one of the largest paediatric orthopaedic units in the country and is the regional Paediatric Major Trauma Centre for South West England. This post is a 12 month appointment, suitable for those interested in Paediatric Orthopaedics. The post holder will be required to take part in clinics and operating lists at the Bristol Children's Hospital and on occasion other centres in the South west. They will be expected to participate in departmental audit and research and have a role in teaching and supporting the junior members of the team. There is an on call commitment on our middle grade rota.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will become part of a dynamic team including ten consultants, six registrars and three junior fellows and gain experience in all aspects of Paediatric Orthopaedics. The individual will be responsible for the day-to-day care of paediatric orthopaedic inpatients including emergency and elective admissions.

We will provide the successful candidates with a wealth of opportunity to gain experience in managing many Paediatric Orthopaedic conditions including developmental hip dysplasia, complex foot deformities, neuromuscular conditions, skeletal dysplasias and complex upper and lower limb deformities. Specialist clinics and fracture clinics run daily.

Knowledge and Experience
