Job summary

A leading NHS foundation trust in the City of London is seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Inherited Metabolic Disease. This role offers an opportunity to manage inpatient and outpatient care, working with a multidisciplinary team and contributing to teaching and research. The ideal candidate shall possess a MRCPCH or equivalent, and has substantial paediatric experience. A competitive salary of £73,992 annually is offered, excluding London weighting.

Qualifications

  • 2 years Paediatric Registrar experience.
  • Previous experience in Inherited Metabolic Medicine.
  • 3 years Paediatric Registrar experience.
  • Previous experience in neurology, endocrinology or hepatology.

Responsibilities

Job description
Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Inherited Metabolic Disease

Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow post in Paediatric Inherited Metabolic Diseases (IMD) based at Evelina London Children's Hospital (ECH). This post offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the management of both inpatients and outpatients with a wide spectrum of inherited metabolic disorders. The successful candidate will join a highly experienced multidisciplinary IMD team, working closely with consultants, specialist nurses, dietitians, and therapists. The post is available to start on 02/03/2026.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide care and management for children and young people with inherited metabolic disorders on the specialist inpatient ward and in outpatient clinics.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including medical, dietetic, nursing, and therapy staff.
  • Offer consultation and specialist advice to other paediatric services across Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) when an IMD opinion is requested.
  • Take telephone referrals from the regional IMD Network, supported by the consultant team.
  • Participate in clinical and service activities to ensure a high standard of patient care.
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training within the department.
  • Engage in research and audit activities, and take part in the department's clinical governance programme, including guideline development and risk management.
  • The post includes an on‑call commitment as part of the paediatric medical middle‑grade rota, covering general paediatrics, metabolic medicine, neurology, and renal specialties. Annual and study leave will be coordinated within the metabolic middle‑grade team and the wider metabolic service.
