Job Summary

Senior Clinical Fellow will work under the supervision of the Consultants in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and will:

  • Provide Registrar level support to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department.
  • Participate in the 1:18 ST3+ rota, including on call.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and carers.
  • When not directly supervised, Consultant advice and cover is always available. In case of difficulties of any kind, the post holder will seek the advice of the appropriate consultant.
  • So far as is consistent with the proper discharge of the above duties, the appointee undertakes to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues.
  • The appointee undertakes, exceptionally, to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
  • This is a 12‑month fixed‑term post.

  • Eligibility:
    • Full GMC registration (GMC Licence to Practice is mandatory before employment commences)
    • Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice
    • Evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competences in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at time of application and likelihood of achieving ST2/CT2 competences in Obstetrics and Gynaecology by the start date of the post
    • Fit to undertake the role with satisfactory occupational health clearance
    • Satisfactory DBS clearance

    • Competent to perform instrumental delivery and uncomplicated LSCS & ERPC
    • Ability to work independently, but aware of own limitations
