Job description
Job Summary

Applications are invited for a full‑time Senior Clinical Fellow post for six months in response to service needs. The postholder will be a Senior Clinical Fellow (ST3/IMT3 equivalent) in the Department of Neurology, working alongside trainees and junior doctors.

Responsibilities
  • Clerking non‑elective patients admitted under neurology.
  • Providing clinical support in day‑to‑day care and management of neurology inpatients under the supervision of neurology consultants.
  • Completing electronic discharge summaries.
  • Participating in the neurology on‑call rota (day shifts on Saturday and Sunday one weekend in six) under the supervision of the on‑call consultant.
  • Performing clinical procedures including acute lumbar punctures (highly desirable) and supporting the elective LP list.
  • Participating in outpatient neurology clinics.
  • Undertaking General Internal Medicine blocks – two 2‑week blocks in acute medicine over the 6‑month period (no nights).
Qualifications
  • Full GMC Registration.
  • Clinical experience in general internal medicine and at least some experience in clinical neurology commensurate with the level of training.
  • Training and expertise in child safeguarding.
  • Ability to perform lumbar punctures independently (desirable).
  • Management and service improvement experience (desirable).

Circumstances
  • Flexible outlook on working hours.
  • Must live within a 15‑mile radius of the base Trust or 30 minutes travelling time.
  • Ability to travel across multiple sites even when public transport may not be available.
