Job description
Job Overview

At SASH we are running a unique programme for those completing their Portfolio Pathway (CESR) in Paediatrics. We are linked with a London PICU and tertiary NICU and a community paediatrics team so that you can complete your training during your employment with us.

We seek to employ a senior clinical fellow at ST4+ equivalent level covering general paediatrics and neonatology in our busy secondary care service for a 12 month fixed term post. This post covers gaps in the rota and allows you to work a 18 person, full shift rota with duties consisting of short days, long days, evening shifts (1‑10pm) and night shifts.

Clinical Areas
  • Paediatric inpatient unit (Outwood ward)
  • Child Assessment Unit (CAU)
  • Neonatal unit (NNU)
  • Postnatal ward (Burstow ward)

You will rotate across all these areas, independently hold registrar‑led outpatient clinics supervised by a consultant, and work approximately 1 in 3 weekends. One set of nights will be undertaken every six weeks. All clinical areas are well supported with consultant presence and cross‑team working is expected.

Teaching & Development

There is an extensive teaching schedule including consultant‑led morning teaching, weekly X‑ray meetings, weekly simulation teaching, monthly safeguarding peer review meetings, a monthly perinatal mortality and morbidity meeting, and a monthly paediatric meeting.

Opportunities exist to take part in audit, quality improvement projects, present at departmental teaching and the Hospital Grand Round, and teach medical students. You will be allocated an Educational Supervisor (ES) to mentor and guide you in this post.
