A National Health Service provider in Carmarthen seeks a Senior Clinical Fellow in General Medicine/Gastroenterology. This role involves clinical responsibilities, teaching, and participation in audits, with opportunities for specialization in Gastroenterology. Ideal for candidates aiming for specialty training. Salary ranges between £46,324 and £71,814 per annum.
This post is fixed term until 4th August 2026
The post holder will be required to undertake clinical checking, maintain accurate patients clinical notes, with prompt completion of discharge summaries.
Assist in the teaching and training of Resident Medical Staff and undergraduate students and participate in regular audit meetings.
The holder of the post will be accountable to the Consultant Physician and Hospital Director within General Medicine. This is a fixed term contract and you will join colleagues in a very dynamic and forward looking General Medicine service. You will be part of the medical oncall team and you will be supported and encouraged to develop a specialist interest in Gastroenterology. This is an ideal opportunity for those wishing to enter a specialty training programme but need some more time/experience, those working towards MRCP/CESR (you will be supported to complete these) or those who have decided to enter a non-training post.
You will be expected to partake in Gastroenterology ward rounds and out-patient clinics. You will be supported to develop skills in gastroenterology techniques. You will be encouraged to develop a portfolio to reflect your developing skills. You will be supported in performing appropriate quality improvement projects and audits. You will be encouraged to organise and support teaching including ECG workshops.
