Job description

We have an exciting opportunity to appoint a Senior Clinical Fellow in Colorectal Surgery within University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Royal Derby Hospital for five months commencing from March 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Ward rounds
  • Assisting in theatre and day case lists
  • Endoscopy training (when available)
  • Supporting consultants in outpatient clinics
  • General Surgery Registrar On Call
  • Supporting junior colleagues
Qualifications
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in General Surgery (excluding Foundation years)
  • Possession of the MRCS is essential
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and holding full GMC Registration at the time of application
  • Candidates can be between ST3 and ST5 and will be involved in ward rounds, theatre lists, endoscopy, day case lists, and outpatient clinics, as well as providing support for the wider team
  • Post does not have a National Training Number but offers a good training experience within Colorectal and General Surgery

Salary

£65,048 per annum, plus enhancements for out‑of‑hours working.
