As Lanarkshire’s trauma unit, UHW provides surgical and anaesthetic services for all adult and paediatric trauma patients requiring surgery within NHS Lanarkshire, functioning as a trauma centre within the Scottish Trauma Network. There is extensive opportunity for regional anaesthesia and regular awake upper limb lists.

The hospital offers upper and lower general surgery, gynaecology, paediatric services with day case paediatric surgery and trauma and orthopaedic services, and active acute and chronic pain services.

Situated in West Central Scotland, UHW is readily accessed from a wide area and sits between Glasgow and Edinburgh, allowing ready access and commuting from both.
