A leading healthcare organization in Basildon is seeking a dedicated Orthopaedic Diabetic Foot Fellow to manage patients with diabetic foot conditions. Job description

We are recruiting for a 12-month dedicated Orthopaedic Diabetic Foot Fellowship in the Trauma and Orthopaedic Department based primarily at the Basildon Hospital Site.

This post is designed to provide the successful applicant with a thorough and comprehensive approach to the non‑operative and operative management of patients with acute and non‑urgent diabetic foot conditions. Depending upon the competency, there would be fair opportunities for taking a lead role in various operating, teaching and clinic related activities.

The Orthopaedic Diabetic Team

The Orthopaedic Diabetic Team is part of the Basildon Diabetic MDT, which meets once a month for a virtual MDT to discuss new patients seen in the previous month and once a week on an ad‑hoc face‑to‑face MDT clinic as per the needs of individual patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with supervising consultants (Mr Tiruveedhula and Mr Mallick), orthopaedic podiatrist and diabetic patient pathway co‑ordinator for the assessment of new referrals in the outpatient setting and inpatient referrals from other specialities, plan non‑operative and surgical treatment, participate in MDT.
  • Liaise with the PPC for the allocation of patients for theatre.
  • Have a dedicated slot for admin and research, update the diabetic database and complete an allocated research project.
